During the euphoria and novelty thal denoted the beginning of the twentieth century in Italy, while the Futurists acclaimed speed, Balla analyzed the history of various dynamic manifestations, and Boccioni painted works that gave shape to the criteria of simultaneousness, Alfieri, Ettore and Ernesto Maserati founded their workshop in Bologna. They would move to Modena in permanent premises and produce automobiles that would he among the most beautiful and famous in the world. It was 1914 and it was immediately clear that the DNA of the three brothers was dominated by their passion for engines. The first World War caused a halt in the evolutionary process of the company, and it was only in the Twenties that the engines began revving again on the test benches. The first car with the Trident logo appeared in 1926. It was the Tipo 20. These were the years of Tazio Nuvolari, of the great road racer, from theTarga Florio to the Mille Miglia. Over time the project was reinvented again and again, from racing circuit models to those that gave a greater thrill and were designed for driving on roads and highways. The Maserati myth continued and became stronger. The Trident models were unequalled. They were beyond the competition, faithful to their identifying marque, combining a racing heartbeat with the excellence of Italian design, identified by Pietro Frua and Pininfarina to Giorgetto Giugiaro. The story of the Maserati adventure, from the twentieth century to this day, and the racing models, the Coupes, the Spyders, the Quattroporte are like shooting stars among the most important events of this 'short century'. In the history of the twentieth century Maserati is the story of a myth, a legend.
